Society of St. Vincent de Paul
If you or someone you know needs financial assistance or has questions about the assistance provided by the Basilica’s St. Vincent de Paul conference, please call (616) 278-1161 or email stvincentdp@basilicagr.org.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is a lay Catholic organization that provides person-to-person service to those in need within their own communities across 152 countries. At the Basilica of St. Adalbert, our St. Vincent de Paul conference meets monthly to discuss ways we can help those facing poverty and hardships in our parish and its neighborhood. These conference meetings also offer volunteers an opportunity to grow in faith and friendship.
In pairs, we visit neighbors who request assistance and provide both material and spiritual aid, as well as connect them with critical resources. Most of the individuals and families we help are very low-income or homeless, and they rely on St. Vincent for financial assistance in paying utility bills, rent, and other expenses to avoid eviction and utility shut-offs.
The society’s funds come from parishioners. To donate, please select “Online Giving” and choose the “St. Vincent de Paul” fund. Alternatively, envelopes are available at the back of the Basilica for donations. To learn more about the society or become involved with our conference, send an email to stvincentdp@basilicagr.org or call (616) 278-1161.
